The Society for Digital Heritage is being established to add new value and functions to cultural assets and the museums that act as information repositories for them. Our Society will bring together information and experts from fields such as cultural asset research, IT development, and content creation to support and promote the creation of digital cultural assets—a new type of cultural resource to be passed on to coming generations. More specifically, our Society will pursue the four functions described below. We will also contribute to areas related to the standardization of cultural asset information and the building of cooperative relationships as underpinnings to a future digital museum.
